Just wanted to start a threat showcasing all the great public land bucks taken here in the Keystone state.
I have yet to take a respectable buck on game lands here in PA but get great pictures of big buck each summer and fall. Hopefully this year I will be able to seal the deal.

Have a few pics from around my place. Backs up to a pretty treacherous state park. First time in my life the only limit to my hunting is me. It’s odd seeing the deer around your yard then chasing them up and down cliffs. Full disclosure, the 14 I had pics of in the summer I didn’t lay eyes on in the season. Work pulled me across the US during the rut and coming home I hiked in deep pushing him up the cliffs to a party. A woman in the party luckily got him. I lost a archery buck to a bear and chased it until dark ending up in a steep thick ravine with no light and a pocket knife. That’s a longer story. Bears here get a little large.E7CFE436-EC9F-4131-9A0E-53AF8FB240EA.jpeg9D6EFD81-B22F-4BD1-9A82-9DF91C083103.jpeg64C9B7B0-F906-4713-B47C-4AEBF4C9E831.jpeg

I have a pic of an 8 I shot on a steep cliff 3 hours in that I had to chase a different bear off the next AM. Neighbor was unknowingly above me on the flat and shot it. 570 lbs or thereabouts. That bear eventually dropped my buck unlike last season.

Although midatlantic, PA has some of the biggest deer and best public land opportunity in the Northeast.

All the old timers around our camp say “there’s no deer left up here anymore” Last year first week my uncle and my two cousins killed real nice 8’s. One of the deer killed is probably the biggest that’s ever been taken out of our camp in the 50+ years it’s been there. A monster for 2F public land

A little off topic...the matched set on the far left (#3/4) is from Collins pine in 2011. Guesstimated at 135". Very thick 10 point that I am sure was 4.5 years old.

Here’s a few of the nicer bucks I have on cameras this summer. Nothing over bait, all public lands. There are some really nice and old bucks running around here in PA especially on the game lands that many people knock saying there are no deer left on them. It just takes putting in the leg work of scouting, using ur head, and developing a sound plan to find those spots holding big bucks. I hope all you guys who grind it out in PA and on public here have a great upcoming season!

Had 8 bucks in our neighborhood that joins the steep terrain Gamelands in the pic I posted. Almost all 8’s with a 10 and the two weird horned ones from last year. One a gnarly 7 I’d love to meet in person and the other an old sway backed 5 pt with mass galore. He survives because he has a tiny 1” time that’s very hard to see and appears to be a 4 making him ineligible with Antler Restrictions. A very mature old deer I let pass a lot until I caught that little tine. Put him to bed one night in the howling rain and the next day had him at 10 yards but a sapling protected his vitals and he was gone. This year in the yard I saw just how swayed back and heavy he is compared to his buddies. No idea if he has that time again as he just looks like a massive buck missing all his times beyond his G2s. I’ve seen massive 6’s and have a dead head from NC of one. Never a 4/5 pt that large except one an uncle shot in Canada.
