Merino 210 quality

Is it just mine or does the Merino 210 line have major issues with pilling? My 210 zip offs are bad and just looked at a shirt to potentially buy and it is really bad as well. I know it will not affect performance a ton but it must be a sign of the garment either breaking down or losing some material? Also the fit of the zip off pants is TIGHT. I am thin and this makes my legs feel jacked, they dont stretch a lot either. Went with large and they are almost so tight they are too uncomfrtable to wear, xl would not stay on my waist... Rant over. Thx

Peloton is 200 or are you talking about merino 210? If you have the new peloton zip offs, that is not good for such a new product.

Sorry my bad, Merino 210. Ya will try to post a pic here. If it was not such a hassle from up here to return I would have....
No idea why the pics are upside down. Kuiu customer service was decent and would have taken them back, again with the shipping, recalling duties from border services, was not worth it. I love the concept and the zippers are great. Just too bad they fit ironman only builds:) and pill like this. This is after 4-5 times wearing and one wash...

Mine 210 also piles (and smells like dead sheep when wet)but doubt it has effected its performance much if at all. I do think there are better options at this price point

• 210g/m² fabric weight
• 52/42/6 Wool Polyester Nylon blend. I wonder if the blended fabric has something to do with it?

Kuiu cs said it was the wool pilling and from abrasion. They are a base layer worn under pants so what can you expect? Either way it cant be good for a fabric to shed that much. My many other merino pants and shirts have never pilled like this. My one Kuiu product so far that has not been good.

My 210 zip T has also pilled terrible. Hardly any use and it looks like crap. Definitely going to stick with my peloton as my mid layer

How long ago were the garments bought that are pilling and coming apart? Are these a year old, just purchased?

Aside from the merino. My peloton 210 has a ton of piling on the shoulders under where my pack straps are. Again CS said they would take it back but said that's normal for the fabric when rubbed against. I like their pants and other stuff but merino and peloton aren't as good as first lite (for merino) and Sitka (for synthetic) in my opinion. Here's a picture of the kuiu piling on the peloton:

My Peloton has actually faired very well. I've not seen anything worse than my Sitka Traverse for pilling even the Kryptek Cerdic hoody wasn't as bad.

I wouldn't expect anything less from a grid fleece like that. My halstead looks similar

My zip offs look similar. I've only washed them 3-4x, too, but I haven't noticed any decline in performance. And yes, those thing are freakin' skinny! I have fairly lean legs and they fit me about like a wet suit. I have a especially hard time getting them zipped around my calves. If you are of Scottish decent, you can forget about wearing these.
That being said, once I get them on, they are very comfortable and they perform extremely well.

I bought my zip off 210 on black friday sale, wore a handfull of times, washed. Picked pilling off for 30 mins then emailed kuiu cs. They say it does not effect performance but it is hard to believe if a garment sheds material that much and continues to. They definitely need to improve the fit for more muscular builds, ever time I wear them I think they are not too bad until I pull on a pair of any of my icebreaker or arcteryx base leggings and go wow, these are so comfortable! Good luck zipping them on, off is doable but have to pull them on. Disappointing Kuiu, hope they improve.

It is too bad First Lite up here is so expensive, would like to try some.

I have the halstead too. Hasn't been as bad for me, so far. The halstead doesn't have too much in terms of piling but honestly hasn't got as much wear on it as the traverse and peloton. This peloton is only 5 months old. My traverse top is 3 years old and my halstead is a year. The traverse got piling on the chest where my bino pack rides but not as bad as this peloton that seems to be shedding a lot of material. I probably have 100 times the wear on the traverse vs the peloton and haven't seen anything like this. CS told me it wouldn't affect performance as well but I'm just worried if this is just going to wear through at some point soon or the seam to come apart.

My Sitka Traverse is probably the best piece of Sitka gear I've seen. Mine is three years old or more and no piling, maybe just a little, but worn a bunch.

Well here is an update for those that are reading this forum. Just got a call from Kuiu customer service, yup a call. Very glad to hear they are looking to take care of customers, even us up here in Canada. Anyway, the product has some issues and they are looking to improve it. Talking to customers, taking feedback and also making it right was impressive to me. I am choosing not to retun the product given everything considered but glad ot know they would have done anything to make it right. Nice work Kuiu.

I'm sure some will see this only as a bash, but I assure you it is not as the attacks and their rain gear are home runs in my book.

To me it seams like this is the common thing now with a ton of their stuff. The tiburon shirt, the tent, the icon frame(s) now this (albeit I don't see that much of an issue in this instance) but shit, your telling me not one guy wore this thing before it was released and said " hey guys check this wear out".

Don't get me wrong other brands have done something like this, kryptek and their original hoody, FL and their gaiters that were made for babies. But there comes a time where instead of your CS making it right it would be cool if it just came right the first Go-round.
