Has anyone taken the Peax bear-hunting/elk course? Wondering if these courses are beneficial? I’m looking at the elk seminar in Billings. Looking for honest reviews.

I did the treeline elk e-scouting online course a couple years ago. Found it pretty useful and it basically spring-boarded me doing more “advanced” stuff with my escouting. They had some spring bear content at the time. I don’t have any feedback about their more recent content or in-person courses

I cannot speak for Mark Livesay/Treeline online or in person courses.

But I do subscribe to Mark's Google Earth toolkit. It is VERY important to my e-scouting. Mark is a master e scout, great wealth of knowledge and great customer support. If you have never listened to him, his info will ratchet up your game.

Marks e-scouting course is excellent. Not just for targeting where animals might live, but learning how to use the tools to efficiently maneuver and navigate through maps.

I would do that way before any of the in person classes.

Do the online e-scouting course, and spend the rest of the money on going actual hunting IMO. You can learn the gist from watching hunting videos on YouTube, the same you will with the in person classes.

But the actually field hunting time is where your growth begins IMO.

Completely agree. It will elevate your game. Having a solid hunt plan and multiple hunt areas fully escouted and pre-loaded (offline maps) has been the best thing for me. Also, for some hunt seasons dealing with snow and fire, the data files he highlights takes away the mystery about what to expect when you head into the field

I guess they had a bear seminar at Scheels in Meridian this weekend. Wondering if anyone attended?
