PEAX Headlamp

I've had really good luck with the Sofrin1200 lumen rechargeable models. One has two large LEDs and only does white light. The other has many small LEDs and will do white or red. I just got back from an elk hunt where we were packing meat well into the night. I was running one on the 2nd brightest setting for about 4 hours straight. The same charge performed not only for the meat haul but also the normal morning and evening use of a 3-day backcountry hunt. I bring a backup, but it'll probably never be needed unless the hunt is longer than 4 days.

My Sofrin has been great so far. I have had Black Diamond, Nitecore and Zebras all die at the worst time. Just used my Sofrin in cold and wet over the last week wirh no issues.

Does anyone have an opinion of this headlamp vs a fenix? I had a buddy use the red light on this in September and I was pretty astonished in comparison to my Petzl. I can get any Fenix at a good price that I’m guessing is worth the money, but I am not sure if they have the red light that is the same brightness as the Peax. I too have been disappointed in the Peax company personally despite never buying anything from them, but that is a personal preference. Would rather buy from a different company if possible.

The sofirn has been so good for me( have 3 now). It’s heavier than the plastic housing BD Petzl etc models, but I’m completely fine with a heavier battery that lasts longer in an aluminum housing. They’ve been super reliable in any weather, and yes, the red light setting blow away the aforementioned headlamps. Also, I wouldn’t even consider for a second buying Peeeeeeeeex over sofirn.

I've used the PEAX light for 2 seasons including 4 elk hunts plus smaller stuff. Works great. I was worried about the weight but I have not had any issues. Red light is fantastic. Very good at not chasing off game and horses don't have any issues. Lasts longer than I thought between charges. Last use, I killed a bull right before dark, Got it quartered and bagged up in the dark by myself and hiked out and back to camp by 1:30 am. PEAX was fantastic and I have no complaints.
