Peak Refuel Stay Fresh Absorber

I kid you not, nearly 30 years ago when I was in Boy Scouts we had a kid in our group that was a little out there and he tried to cut that open to season his food…he also put the plastic bag that the meal came in directly on a grill grate 😂

The bags themselves are heavy. Transferring the food to a Ziploc saves both space and weight and the meals are fine up to 2 months later in my experience.

I poor my boiling water in the Ziploc, then wrap in my jacket to keep it warm. If it is cold enough that I'm wearing both my mid layer and puffy, I put it in the pocket of my puffy.

I only use Ziplock brand freezer bags, if using something different, test it first.

To eat I will put the bag in my pot and roll the top down over the rim.

I think 8 days worth of Peak Reful packaging weighed 16.06 ounces, the Ziploc bags weighed 4.2 ounces.

Space savings are my main reason, both packing the meals and trash at the end.

Thanks. I’ve been re-packing the meals in FoodSaver sealed bags - but I think next time I’ll just use ziplock.

Taking them out of their original packaging? And putting them in something else? 🤣🤣🤣. Good grief. People are soft these days.

What happens if you kill something? Don’t take the meat 🤣. Or leave edible portions?

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just putting it out there you get a lot of PFA’s in your food by boiling a ZipLock bag. Try the boil-safe Sous vide bags for a food saver. They don’t get soft when they heat up and you won’t be ingesting all that plastic shit-If you care about that kind of thing that is

Yes for sure - I bring one of the Peak RF bags along to heat up the meals. I wouldn’t want to be heating up a zip lock / eating food from it.

I just can’t get myself to waste all the bags. I’m not a super green dude but the bag is purpose made for eating. I’m not throwing it in the trash and using new bags to save some weight.
Do you use paper towels or dish cloths? Disposable containers or none disposable for food at home? I get were you are coming from, I'm just curious if you think the same in other areas. There is no requirement for perfection, so no criticism if you use paper towels and disposable containers (I rarely use either).

I get where you are coming from. I’m the world’s biggest hypocrite but do my best. A mixture of both. Maybe we can lobby Peak to do a 10 pack tub.
