Peak 44 Bastion Tikka Review

Are these working with factory magazines? I have OMR bottom metal, so I would assume so. Just dont want to make the same mistake I did with the HNT 26, which will only take a specific 5 rd aics magazine in the long action. Thinking of selling it because of that.
Mine worked with factory mag

Yes OMR bottom metal will work with Peak 44. OMR installs both with their Tikka upgrade package.

I ordered a Bastion on Black Friday. Got it last week. Haven't used it yet, as the local sportsman club is closed due to bad weather in January.

The included recoil lug fit quite loose. So I did some bedding. Will see how that works out. Can always Dremel it out and redo if I somehow screwed it up.

How much were you able to get it for at Black Friday?

This may be addressed earlier in the thread but I didn’t see it. How are you guys storing these? Peak44 told me not to have them stand up on the hex recoil pad.

Peak really missed the mark with their “special” recoil pad. I have the stock and am looking for an aftermarket replacement pad to add LOP and minimal weight. Overall the stock is nice but is still lacking grip on the pistol and fore end.

I store my muzzle down in my safe, but it has a suppressor attached to it all the time.

Peak makes a good stock. I’ve been very happy with my blacktooth on a tikka. I’ll be picking up a bastion for sure to put on then 7mm prc build I have in progress.
How did the build go? Did you just swap out the stock on a new Tikka? I’m looking to buy a 7mm PRC Tikka and replace the stock with a Bastion.

I did not ended up getting a bastion for the 7 mm PRC. Still have a couple blacktooth that I continue to like, but ended up using a takeoff tikka varmint stock on my 7mm 7 prc build as I did not mind the additional weight.

Is it possible to install QD flush cups in place of the factory sling studs on a Bastion stock?
You would have to drill into/out the embedded nut and epoxy in a QD.
It would be easier to drill in a new hole for the QD, and remove the existing studs.

I added a slip on limbsaver which adds ~3 oz but makes the rifle 5x more pleasant to shoot.

That 3D printed garbage is trash. It hardens up as temperatures decrease considering most of us hunt at freezing or below temps it becomes rock solid. Thats my only complaint of the stock besides some cosmetic defects.

This response was longgg overdue, I apologize. Turkeys, work and weather all had a hand in delaying my time behind this rifle.

@Bbrinks hooked me up this spring with a new recoil pad and recoil pad/stock adapter for my Bastion stock. His communication and detail were great and he wanted this to be as perfect as possible for me. He was great to work with and made a second revision for me based on some feedback I had. It turned out outstanding and is a vast improvement over the factory setup. Removing the factor recoil pad was a chore. I used JB plastic bonder to set the new adapter. It's as solid as can be. I have zero concerns with it staying in place and holding up to hard use.

The new recoil pad from @Bbrinks is just right for the 6.5 PRC and one of the better ones I have in general. I wasn't impressed with the factory offering at all. And a recoil pad that you can't store the rifle on is nearing laughable for me. In cold weather, there might as well not have been a recoil pad due to how solid it got.

The other item I wanted to address was LOP. When I first received my Bastion, the LOP was so short it was virtually unusable for me. I'm 6'3" and right handed. My right bicep and forearm were so doubled up on each other that I found myself "flexing" to get my hand back far enough on the palm swell. As you can imagine, this also caused my trigger finger/trigger interface to be poor as well. The new setup is mindless to get behind and fits me perfectly.

I think the proprietary recoil bad adapter/insert from PEAK44 was a miss, as was their "recoil pad". I think the stock should have at least came with LOP adjustment from the factory and they would have been better off building the stock geometry to work with existing pads like a Limb Saver.

Cant thank @Bbrinks enough for all the help!
