Having a GPS to get UTM coordinates, along with a paper map and an altimeter, is a very efficient way to plan routes and navigate.

I like paper maps, but I hunt too many different areas to justify the experience. So, I use Gaia GPS. I think paper is better for planning as you can see more area.
