What is your pant of choice for Hunting Elk in the Rocky Mountains late September/early October. Obviously it requires some moving and some sitting still.

9000-11000 ft in elevation. Temps from 20’s to 70’s are possible at different times of the day.

ThaNlaw!

the finest pants I’ve ever found for hitting the hills. Sitka timberline was too heavy/thick , shredded FL obsidians, then went to prana and didn’t like the pockets. Then went to Eddie Bauer and loved them but they were almost like skinny jeans and the cargo horizontal pocket was pointless. These came out and I stock piled several pairs. They are stretchy, dry quick, butt/legs are doubled up and brush doesn’t stick to them at all. They do sales monthly for 49.99 free ship.. I usually go 33 in everything but went up to a 34 to get a little more leg room and it was perfect.

I think this is where hip vents really shine. Zipped up they cut the early morning chill and opened up really help cool you down if your working hard chasing elk or napping in the midday heat.

Which ones have the vents? I agree zipper vents are the way to go.

I use SKRE Gear they are a Rokslide sponsor. There's a few other companies offering them also.

I own all of the above but nothing beats the Timberlines...not even close. I have 5 pair. Attacks are second but if you want reinforced, waterproof, padded knees and butt...Timberlines are the way to go.

Kuiu Attack have them. Great pant, a little heavier than Sitka Apex, Eddie Bauer, and Prana Zion.

I rotate those and the Sitka Timberline. With a chance of colder weather, i'd pick the Attack or Timberline. Trending warmer: Attack. Trending colder or wetter: Timberline.

Lots of Kuiu Attack fans around, but I find them to be too small in my regular size, and too big the next size up. The one pair I did keep wasn’t very durable either.

For the hunting conditions you’re heading into, I really like First Lite Corragate Guide pants. Durable, breathable, stretchy, quick drying and QUIET. Comfy cut too.
