Painless load development (mine)

It might be close in a SAAMI chamber or loaded to SAAMI spec OAL. I never loaded N565 before I had mine throated out but I know the 143 was stuffed pretty deep in there.
My old gun was SAAMI and I don’t remember really compressing powder with this load.

At least nothing like when I’ve actually compressed a load and crunched kernels on the way in lol.

There's always the electric toothbrush vibrating the case trick. Combine that with the Forster drop tube funnel and you get much more case capacity before compression, IME.

Tested 109 LRHT’s in the SAAMI 6 creed with 42gr. H4350. 2.857 COAL. Or about .020 off.

They aren’t very far down in the case neck (bearing surface is maybe 1/2 way down), so I single fed 5 and then mag fed 5 to see if it would make any difference with dispersion from the bullets hitting the feed ramp and possibly getting a little runout. It didn’t affect anything.

10 shots overlayed into a .57 MOA group with an ES of 28.

No actual load work, other than testing N555 as well, which didn’t shoot as small of groups but did have a lower ES. I’ll personally take the smaller groups vs. lower ES all day.

This is also a 26” carbon benchmark and the gun weighs 10lbs 4oz.

@huntnful
I havent measured the chamber in the rifle yet to see what it is.
Been waiting on the Modified case to get here.
Vit reloading data shows the COAL to be 2.913 with the 147 ELDm but Hornaday data shows 2.950 with the 147. Nosler shows 2.955 with a 150 Accubond.
So I think ill go by the 2.950 at this point to start with and go from there.
Kind of odd that Vit is so much shorter in COAL. Which I would assume is where they are getting the compressed load from.

Makes sense then! You should have a great combo with 565 & 147’s!

Going to play with it some. I have 300 of the 147s sitting on the shelf. But would really prefer something a little lighter like a 130 or maybe 140 but ill see what it does with the 147s first.
Still waiting on my can to get out of jail for this thing too.

140 Berger hybrids and 4831SC shot unreal for me. And they kill like a MF.

I would like to try some Bergers but I hear they can be a bit of a pain to get dialed in with the secant Ogive they have. I'm still somewhat new to load dev and dialing it all in.
A Berger hybrid is one of the most forgiving & precise bullets made.

I might have to give them a try.
Maybe it was the VLD i was reading that were a bit of a pain to get loaded right.
I don’t really TRY to get things to shoot anymore personally. I’ve had VLD’s shoot well loading them the same way I do with other bullets. A good gun, of moderate weight should be able to put 10 Berger’s under 1” with no tweaking at all. But I’ve seen them prefer one powder over another, so that’s always worth testing.

As a head's up, I'm getting 3100 MV in my 6.5 WSM and 147 with 66 grains of N565. Its a factory 23" Tikka I had rechambered from 6.5 PRC.
It's crazy how fast the tradeoff happens in some of these overbore comparisons, that's 9.5gr more powder than my load in my 21" Tikka PRC and only 200fps faster. 3100fps is awesome, but I'm way too much of a cheap ass to burn an extra 10gr to get it!

I'm hoping my Magneto was wrong... ;)

Hopefully ordering a Rangecraft today. Less than 50 rounds on the barrel too, so maybe it will speed up a little. I have a spare 6.5 PRC barrel as well, so if it doesn't speed up, I can go back to easy button PRC once the barrel is burned up. Or maybe rechamber back up barrel to 6.5-7PRC to see how much more powder I can burn. :ROFLMAO:

FYI - That wouldn't work. WSM is fatter than PRC and there is very little shank to set back on a tikka contour.

I should've clarified and apologies. The back up barrel I'm talking about is OEM Tikka in 6.5 PRC. My understanding is that 6.5 and 7 PRC parent case is the same diameter. Are you saying there isn't enough shank to lengthen the chamber for the longer 7 PRC case?
