Looking for somebody to possibly pack out a elk in this area? Also what is the average rate?

There are several depending on the specific area you're hunting. I believe Sundown Outfitters/Ash Tully can offer packing services district wide. I would call the FS and ask about the specific area you plan to hunt. They can tell you who the outfitters are in that area.

Ash tully for sure ive used him several times and doesn't disappoint. He hunts lions and bears aswell and he grew up in this unit. has good drop camps. going rate is $400 for 4 hours and $50 hour after that then you also want to tip 20% or more.

Nothing wrong with planning ahead, but unless you are lucky it’ll be a day or three before most outfits will even get there. You’ll have to find a cool place for the quarters.

We are hunting with him the 8-14. As far as I know he’s booked through 2026 currently

This! I’d be happy to help someone out. Especially if that someone isn’t as young as they use to be. I’ll be next door from the 14-30th, so depending where….. I’m game.

I had a quote for a neighboring unit 3 years ago: $300 per horse, 3 horse minimum, so $900.

I live in Durango. If you get something down in 77, I could potentially help with a manual packout on a weekend. I’m calling for a buddy this weekend and bear hunting the 2nd weekend of Sept. potentially free after that, feel free to check with me.
