Have any of you put together your own packbag for an external frame pack? I'm thinking about sewing something up for my Kelty Cache Hauler. Of course you can always just strap a duffel bag to it, but I'm thinking about trying to make something a little more integrated.

I've always thought about putting something together, but I'm lazy and it's easier to strap a dry bag on.

I've occasionally chased sheep with a modified camp trails frame, and an OR drybag bungee'd to it.

I've also tied an old Canadian army 82 pattern bag to the frames as well. Works well, but those bags are heavy - just about 3lbs.

Yes. What you want to is get a seek outside talon and use it for the compression on the bag IMG_3862.pngIMG_2029.jpegIMG_3903.jpeg

So you made that packbag? I’d love to learn more about it. What are its dimensions? Did you use a specific pattern?

Yes. Basically I sew a square bag with roll top that has a way to hang the bag on the frame then use the seek outside talon for compression. That is the simplest and works well. I have some with side pockets and a rear stretch pocket.

You can adapt the kuiu bag to a frame too but i never really used it. You can buy accessories from barneys sports chalet like should straps, pins, hip belts, and mesh backing. IMG_1351.jpegIMG_1732.jpegIMG_2023.jpeg
