Pack Straps

What does everyone do with excess straps hanging from your packs when everything is cinched down? My EMR II when in day pack mode has straps hanging everywhere. Just thought I would try and get some different ideas. Velcro wraps maybe?

I use velcro cable ties. Great to have around the house for tons of other uses as well.

I took an idea from Mystery Ranch of sewing two short pieces of velcro together to make a strap keeper. MR used to sell them, I don't see them on their website anymore. Kifaru may make a similar accessory. Brad's suggestion above will do the same thing with no sewing required.

Buy 3/4 or 1" waist band elastic from walmart. A yard pack is like 97 cents. Sew a short loop and slip ot on the strap. You can just pull the excess into the loop or roll it up and tuck it in. Dont want to sew? Glue would work fine. Just lay a thin bead and clamp it with the black spring paper clips. Im about to make a batch and may glue even though im very comfortable sewing. Glue will just be so much faster and its not a critical piece of gear if it fails.

Lowe's has gray or black.
One roll should last a LONG time.

Stone glacier sells rubber band like deals for this. They don't add much weight and are really quite.

How good do the Stone Glacier rubber ones stay on? Only concern would be having them slip off when hiking and not noticing till its to late

loop the excess around the strap and leave a few inches tailing down. The last thing I want to is add more crap. I take a couple wraps on the load lifter strap even so it won't blow around in the corner of my eye.
