Pack squeak cure

Best wax for silencing pack straps that I've found is Parrafin- the stuff they use for canning. No odor and it lasts a long time.

If you are going to use silicone spray- which will smell for a very long time- you might as well spray a little WD-40 in your pits to try and hide the smell- Grin.

I wrapped the tips of my KUIU carbon frame with some black athletic tape I bought off amazon. problem solved!
Did that "athletic tape" eventually work itself off? I tried Kifaru's suggestion of Hockey Tape, but it didn't last long at all, before it worked itself off.

Seeing these other posts, I'm thinking Bow-string wax would totally be the way to go!

(Big thank you to whomever shared that one!)

I'm confused about what it is you're waxing. Is it the contact point on the frame that you're waxing or the bag itself where is comes in contact with the frame?

I waxed straps and buckles that I suspected and the pockets for my frame that I knew were squeeking. Basically tore it apart and put a thin film on both sides of anything I thought might squeek. I was annoyed when I did it.

On my Outdoorsman's pack.. I was upset the other day to realize I had a bad squeeking issue happening, when I had the eCaller, lotta water in the bladder and so forth in my pack.

It was the load-lifters. Both the load-lifter straps.. and the shoulder straps... where a little too tighented up for when the weight/bulk inside the pack increased above some certain amount.

I have to try like crazy to adjust my pack in such a way as to make sure as little as possible is attempting to press upon my lower back region.

I gotta make sure the hipbelt straps are significantly tightened.. otherwise... the hipbelt slacks down a lil bit and the pressing against my area of injury... over the course of the day.... will leave me hurting by days end. Also part of why I have to use FirstLite suspenders when hunting, otherwise thehipbelt.. crushes the regular belt... into my area of injury... causing me bad pain by the end of the day.

Teh squeeking I had happening with the Kifaru EMRII pack.. was due to poor design. I'd gotten the carbon fiber sheet one, instead of aluminum stays.. and that sheet? it'd fold at the edges from the tightening of the straps.

Well... that folding.. when it's happening inside-of that sleeve thing of there's which slides down over the TOP of that carbon fiber frame sheet... it causes those folding-in parts to rub against that touch, friction-y material that slides over the frame thing... resulting in terrible noise.

Was a shame too, really liked that EMRII pack most any other time. But when ya gotta go in with tent and stuff, you couldn't escape it having that bad noise to it.
