Looking to see if anyone near Eastern Idaho would benefit from using a string of packgoats... but doesn't have the time or space to own their own.

My goats need more excercize/trail time than my current work schedule is permitting, so I'm looking for 2-4 other like-minded folks in the area who would like to "co-own" these goats, split costs, and have access to them year round... spring bear, summer mountain lake fishing trips, summer scouting, fall and winter big game hunts. It makes the most sense for someone who would likely need them for at least 3 trips a year.

The goats would continue to stay at my place... so all the fun, without any of the hassle of owning stock animals!

I have a trailer or stock rack for transport.

These 5 goats helped haul out 3 different bull elk last season in one trip out (3 different hunts). They are great for packing in deep with a camp, and being able to get your camp and meat back out in one trip.

If you haven't used goats before, I am happy to train you.

Had a similar conversation with a friend about my goats yesterday. With kids sports and short days it’s hard to get them out much from Nov-June.

IMO, 5 goats are suited to one boned out elk if that is all they are carrying.

Rule of thumb is up to 50lbs each. However depending on conditions (whether you are on a trail, up or down hill, going in or coming out, distance) more or less weight might be appropriate.

Thanks for all the PMs. Looks like there are quite a few out there who like the idea, but are just a bit too far away to make the most of it.

Any folks out there closer to Eastern Idaho?

You should come up with a daily rental price.

I don’t typically hunt near you but if I drew a tag down that way again I’d certainly be interested.

I’m sure there’s others of the same mindset

Years ago, I rented out my goats. I believe it was $50 per day per goat.
