I recently picked up a 2017 Polaris Sportsman 570 SP.

I did a little maintenance on it - front prop shaft U joints and replaced left front CV boots.

Also made my own front & rear brush guard.

I haven’t had much of a chance to ride it a whole lot (I do like the power steering)

So I was wondering how other Polaris Sportsman 570 owners like theirs.

We've always had 500s but imo Polaris Ifs and 4wd systems set the industry standard.

I've grown up close friends with the owners of a Polaris dealership and they are great quads.

If i was to buy a newer one the 570 utility premium would be it without hesitation.

The only problems they told me people have on a regular basis are farms/nurseries that have employees on them and do absolutely zero maintenance, leave them covered in mud parked outside.
 
Does a 570 still have backup pull start? That was always a big advantage of the 500s.

That and fuel consumption.
Buddy had to carry a can to make the same loop on his 700
 
I have a 17 570 and my nephew has an18. Both used on a very regular basis on the farm. We both keep up on the maintenance and no problems with either one.
 
Mine was ok, make sure you get either a spare fuel pump or rebuild kit, it’s cheap, it’ll fail there was another common issue they had that is an easy fix but can’t remember it now, never had it pop up as an issue.

The forums for them cover a ton of stuff.

If it has the factory winch the thumb controller failed internally on mine and would randomly kick the winch on and almost stall it, i replaced it with a KFI switch that was better quality.

Overall mine was good and I liked it.

I've never had any issues with my 800 and would buy Polaris again, however, I'd opt for the 570 for sure if I were buying now, mainly for the better fuel consumption
 
I’ve heard good things about the 570. I was gonna buy a new one last week but it sold thirty minutes before I got there…..

The new ones no longer have the pull start option. I think it was around 2010 they eliminated that.
 
I’ve used a number of 570’s for work and personal use. Not sure how many miles, but several thousand. A better motor all around than the old 500’s. Cold starts well, good power. Never put wrench to the engine of any of them. The first few years could be hot on the leg, but they eventually came out with a kit that helps with that.

If you see a lot of mud, expect to replace wheel bearings. A certain percentage will leak around the clutch cover on deep water crossings. Mine all were fine, but I’ve had a couple friends with that issue.

I bought a 21 Sportsman 570 back in September. Couldn’t be happier. I honestly haven’t used it much (only 20 hours so far) but it is a gray quad. Seem to have plenty of power and rides exceptionally well. I love the flat polymer racks and the storage compartment up front.

I don’t have power steering but I did get a winch put on it. Which helped hang deer this fall! Overall very happy with the wheeler.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I’m still going thru the atv - doing some preventative maintenance. Yesterday I inspected the clutch and belt for any water / dirt entry (which seems to be an issue) but all was good.

I also ordered a wheel bearing greaser (another common issue) so that should do it for now.

It’s quite obvious that Polaris engineers have never worked on these units. I’d like to kick em on the nuts by making it so difficult to work on lol

I still have my old 2002 Yamaha Big Bear. It has 4400 miles on it and just keeps going. I’ve only changed the front wheel bearings in 20 years. I just put a carb kit in it. Great machine.

I have a 14 model. Only problems I've had were the factory axles. The CV joints went out on the right rear axle on a trip. I replaced the axles with Rhino axles. I use mine pretty much daily for farm use. Also run it pretty heavily during trapping season. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
 
I have a ‘15 RZR570 and it has been bullet proof. Haven’t had any issues with the engine/drive train other than tearing a CV boot. I’ve broken through ice and flooded it, and just drained everything and changed filters/fluids. Mine sips gas compared to other engines. I’d assume your quad would be even more fuel efficient.
 
I’m on my 2nd one and if I bought a new one, it would be another 570. Mine have been super reliable
 
Speaking of fuel use - what is the average fuel economy for the 4.5 gallon tank?

I think that is way to circumstantial to answer.

I filled the tank in mine back in September and just filed it up the other day. If that tells you anything.

I have a '19 570. bought it used about a year ago. Only had 40 miles on it. Really like it so far. Haven't used it a ton. Mostly for riding around and for waterfowl hunting, hauling deke trailer in wet fields etc. The battery on it started getting weak this winter so I replaced it. It was a chore just getting to it and getting it out. Not under the seat anymore. Seems like that is how all companies get your business now days. Make it hard to repair yourself.
 
Make sure you take a look at the oil filter location. I had an '11 Sportsman 550 and the oil filter was the only thing underneath not protected by a skid plate. Packing out a bull and a fat hunting companion up a rocky hillside, I unknowingly punched a rock through the oil filter and ran it out of oil. Oopsie
