Winchester 38-55, I know there are some differences in barrel size depending when made.

are you talking about cast lead oversized to bore?

Are you loading cast lead bullets? Or jacketed bullets?

If you have an older rifle, have you slugged the bore?

It sounds like a really small issue and one that I probably wouldn’t even notice if we are being honest, but a lot depends on the bullet, load, and rifle involved.

I have had some real goat ropes loading cast lead bullets in older rifles. We have one Spanish El Tigre, a licensed copy of the Winchester Model 92 in .44-40, that we must have put 500 rounds through trying to find something that shot well. If I never have to resize another cast lead bullet, I will be very happy.
