My bride and I just got back from 10 days in Peru and 10 days in Spain and France. First thing my wife said as we got something to eat after getting back to the US was this tastes like crap. Amazing the food taste differences with all the crap we add to our food in this country.

If you ever buy meat from a small farmer that does it right you can instantly tell a difference. The color and taste is completely different in most cases.

Pork is the best example of this IMO, if you have ever eaten a pig raised by someone you know vs what we buy in the grocery store, it's almost not comparable. Color, texture and flavor are completely different.

I'd also tell you that your Northern Idaho area of residence is not known for culinary excellence!

But yes, this is why my wife and I seldom go out to eat. We make our own food and it tastes much better.

We bought an Idaho Pasture Pig this year for the first time. For those that prefer wild game, this pork is right up your alley. Darker meat and a little tougher than a generic farm hog. Excellent!
