OTC Walk In Big Horn Hunt

Nice work. Love the tipi set up.

The wood stove in the tipi might have been a little over kill at this time of year but this is one of the few times that I hunted with a partner so splitting the pack loads I thought it would be a luxury worth paying the 3 1/2 lb weight penalty for. I'll tell you what, rolling over and lighting the stove so I can drag my 47yr old bones out of my bag and into a warm shelter is priceless. :-D

I live in alberta as well and I would say the stove isn't overkill at all. I have 3 different sheep hunts planned with a tipi and stove this year. I think it will pay for itself the first day u get back to camp soaked to the bone. or the first -10 morning that's too damn cold to crawl out of the tent so u just lean over and light the stove.

That's an awesome deal right there. Congratulations on a great hunt The more I learn about Canada the more I wished I would of went there in 72 when uncle sam was handing out those all expense paid trips to south east asia. I'm old now so I can say stuff like that....

Even for my 28 yr old bones it's priceless!!

mad mtn mike-
can this be done as a hunter host for non resident aliens in alberta? i have a friend in alberta who hunted water buff with me and i'm wanting to get over there soon and hunt black bear with him under the hunter host system. it would be awesome if the bighorns could be hunted under this system.

congrats on the ram

Clint a non resident Canadian can do it but they have to draw the tag first with less than 1% chance of drawing. A non resident alien must go through an outfitter. In order for your buddy to host you for spring bear he must start the process by Feb. 28. it can be time consuming I wouldn't wait till the last minute.
Bikerdave I am blessed to live where I do but I have a brother in law who lives in Colorado and he seams to enjoy elk every year.:-)

Great ram!! I'm a Alberta boy too and we just got back from our sheep hunt. Didn't see anything but lambs and ewes. Going to head out mid september and give'r another go.

i was planning on doing it in the fall so i could maybe combine it with another species.

Thanks Mad Mt. Mike for the pics and congrats on your success. What was your rifle setup?

We processed him today, instead of grinding hamburger and making stew meat we decided to can. Will have awesome meat in moose camp this year.

Congrats! Great pics and story. Really like the last pic above. Nothing beats fresh harvest+family+kitchen table+kids running around.

My mom is from Lethbridge, always wished I could be a dual citizen like her. Congrats on a great ram!
