I did not get a draw so instead of sitting this year out for the third year, I wanted to try unit 70/71 with my stickbow. I usually bivy hunt for about 6/7 days. Does anyone have any experience or info bow hunting these units. Good or bad. I have been researching a couple of areas but it's hard to commit without see the area in person.

I know a little about unit 71, not much of anything about 70 and it isn't during bow hunting season but if you would like the limited info that I have I would be glad to share it with you. Just send me a PM.

If it were me though, and I were just getting started in a new area, I would learn 70 over 71, the success rate is much higher. Problem is, the high success rate in 70 may be due to late 3rd season hunts, so I'm not much help there, especially for bow season.

I assume you're asking about Colorado? I hunted 70 a little and it would be pretty good if a guy took the time to figure it out. Plenty of elk spread out in a lot of country.

71 is extremely steep. In fact its almost so steep that I am considering learning a new area. When hunting on a 14,000 foot mountain there aren't many peaks, valleys or canyons, just one big mountain.

Did you get my PM?
