I’m leaning toward an OTB can for my next suppressor. Primary rifle will be a 16” .223 Tikka. It will be used for training, but main intended use is a compact hunting rig.

Cost range in the models listed below is close enough for me - not a discriminator. I already have a light but loud hunting can (technically quiet enough). All suppressors are loud to me, but these below would all be better than my current setup (which is a can most of you hate).

So I’m looking at the UM/US products:
OG 6.5 - 7.4oz; 4” in front of bbl; 129.5 dba on 24” 6.5 Creed
OG 6S - 6.4 oz; 1” less OAL length benefit over OG 6.5 (3” vs 4” in front of bbl); 131 dba on 18” 6 Creed
Reaper: Not an OTB but looks to be quietest at 127 dba on 20” 308(?)
Future 223 can: wait for this to come out?

Also looked at Airlock.
Airlock ZG Nano: 3.75oz; 4” in front of muzzle (I think is how you read that); 127db on 18” 223 (db…at ear). These stats look pretty compelling!

Other Airlock? Other cans you think might be better, period?

I’ve heard Ryan’s sales pitch on OTB sound quality. I already have 2 multi-use cans, so trying to resist versatility swaying me vs a dedicated 223 can. But haven’t ruled out a 6.5 can here.

You can only tell so much reading specs on tests performed on different rifles, dba vs db, different companies testing, etc yada yada yada. Trying to get settled on best option for light, quiet, compact …enough…for a short 223. Trying not to get hung up on 1 inch or 2 oz’s, etc.

TLDR: So really interested to hear from some of you who have shot some or multiple of the above. What would you pick if deciding today?

I shoot an OG65 on my 16” 223 but ultimately it will end up on my 6cm when the OG223 is available. I just saw some clips of them testing it and it’s looking pretty darn perfect.

@Livedog I’ve been on the hunt for an optimized .224 suppressor for a fat barrel 22 Creed. Haven’t found one yet. I’ve been told by a couple manufacturers to be patient……. No details, but I’m gonna stick with my 6.5 Reaper for now.
I’ll probably get a New 4” Reaper & Reflex to try
when they release.
I’d Like to have a .224 cal Reaper with a Reflex that is engineered specifically for larger volume .224 case’s that fits a 1” barrel.

I've got the OG6S and REALLY like it on my 243! Probably my favorite can right now, and I have a bunch. I will for sure be buying the OG 22 caliber can when it comes out.

I have a ZG Nano and ZG6.5 on order after shooting one of my buddies Nano but have not shot it next to the OG6S. It was very impressive for it's size, won't go wrong with that one.

Ultimately, if you want one soon, go with the OG6S and you'll be happy, if you don't mind the wait, get on a list for the ZG Nano, or wait for the OG 22. Any way you go, you'll be happy I'm sure. Only thing I can say is go the 3D printed route, I've got a few (OG6S, Reaper, Rhodie 6, B&T Tiger) and they out perform all my newer (wolfhunter, DD LTi, Polonium, Omega, Raptor 8) old school baffle cans by a good margin. It's a great time in the suppressor world!!
