Osage Selfbow

Got one shot in and finished after a long, cold Michigan winter. 64" ntn, 50#@28".

Ebony tip overlays, a pretty hardwood handle from a block my buddy gave me (not sure what exactly it is). Beaver tail rest and strike plate. Some snakey-ness and some nice character throughout. Shoots beautifully.

Thank you! This one was a belly split off a big quarter log that yielded 5 staves.

Thats really cool. I have not made one in years. I have a whole rack of hickory, maple, and hophorbeam staves in the basement that I will get to eventually. Really need to add an osage stave or two to the collection.

Thanks! Most of the Osage I've gotten is from people who cut and cured it here in Michigan. I don't know of any near me and not sure exactly where it was cut. Thanks to a couple good buddies that gave me leads to guys selling off their stashes I'm stocked up for a while.
