I have a Savage 110 trail hunter lite and ordered an oryx chassis for it. Most all photos and videos I’ve seen leading up to it have been perpendicular to the gun showing the side profile.
I got the chassis today and dropped my action in told my gf that I have good news and bad news. Good news is with the tapered barrel and the profile of that chassis, you can store a couple of Olive Garden breadsticks between the bottom of the barrel and the chassis and keep them warm. Bad news is that the setup looks like garbage.
Now that I’m diving deeper into peoples personal pictures and different angles that same fit and huge gaps in between the chassis and barrel look prevalent in most pictures that aren’t perpendicular to the gun. Even with larger carbon fiber barrels.
This is probably on me for poor planning as this is my first rifle. Now I’m not sure which route to go.. if I should just return the chassis and move on to something else or go back to factory, or get a different barrel without the significant taper. Any learning lessons, suggestions or criticism is welcome at this point.
