Original Lolo trail - Weippe to Lolo hot springs

Was wondering if anyone in Idaho knows much about the original Lolo trail between Weippe prairie and Lolo hot springs.

I have been reading the Undaunted Courage (L&C) book for the second time and thought that portion of the trail would be neat to backpack. However, I've not been able to find any real maps of the full original trail.

Does anyone know if it's actually maintained the full way and if a map exists? Is this a trail that could only be done by doing research on their journals and available headings?

We rode the Lolo Motorway a couple of years ago in our SxS. Along the way there were markers where the original trail was believed to be. It was very faint, and not maintained. I would recommend the trip.
