We were 0/5 on our tag draws this year, we typically draw our deer and elk. But there are 1000’s of leftover archery.... What gives ODFW?

And now if I understand it correctly when you buy a leftover tag its no longer an additional tag. Seems like a shitty way to do things IMO. I have to question the oregon points system on how accurate it really is.

I didn't draw spring bear, neither did my buddy. He also didn't draw anything last week but i drew a rifle buck tag at least. I usually only draw one tag a year it seems lol

The general archery deer is now a draw. I would assume the left over tags are because wanna be bow hunters put in for rifle tags and will just bow hunt elk. However, this will be the last year for that to it seems.

Did they release the data on the applications per unit for rifle? Curious to see if there was much of a shift from normal.

Reports are released - in more detail than I have seen previously.

Log in to MyODFW as if you were buying or checking for your tags/draws - at the home page look under "Outcome Reporting" and click on "Download Controlled Hunt Reports". They have it all under that tab.

This is correct - no longer additional tags; that ended a number of years ago. I believe there was a feeling that folks were not getting an opportunity at tags while others who were on their game, were getting several.

I don't know for certain but I would think this will settle after a few years; my initial impression is the units that were highly subscribed are the same units that archers were noting as being 'over-subscribed' or 'crowded' which is what partially led to implementation of the draw. I did not look at the leftovers, but my suspicion is they may be those units that are less popular and were not highly desirable prior to the draw anyways.

The smarter ones used out of reach units for 1st choice and went 2nd choice. I suspect many piled into the better Deer units since they had to choose, which left those lower end units undersubscribed.
