Hello,

I drew the muzzleloader tag for NE Whitehorse in Oregon this year. All of the forum posts I have seen on this hunt are pretty out dated so I though I would see if anyone has hunted it the last few years and had an update on how it is hunting. It seems like its very dependent on the start of winter to get the Idaho bucks migrating into the unit. Any info would be much appreciated thank you!

I think you are correct. Need some weather to help. Resident deer numbers are way down in Whitehorse just like the rest of the state but maybe worse considering there isn’t much change people wise out there. Several years of drought and in my opinion over grazing on some areas haven’t helped. However the dates are good for the tag and one never knows what might show up.

How good of buck are you willing to kill? It’s not a good hunt anymore. I’ve spent a lot of time in there the last few years all times of the year. Pm me if you’d like. Maybe you have other info we can trade? Either way I’ll give you a general idea what to expect.

Ill be down there in a few weeks scouting for my brothers antelope tag. My biggest concern is finding a camp with some day time shade during that august season  if i see anything interesting i will pm you.

JV has a trailer park with some big cottonwoods and there’s a coffee and ice cream shop across the road. Could be the spot haha
