I have relatives in Oregon and the hunt and hunt, I think they might have problems stopping hunting
It is going to be interesting to see How far and what kind of momentum
it picks up.
You know if this even comes close it will set of wildfires of similar proposals in California, Washington, new York.
Once they have that they will close the forest to protect the animals privacy
And then all meat animals will get protection and the courts will grant them Land to be free from the carnivore society and we all will be forced to be vegan amd Eating of flesh will be a crime.

Luckily at this point the petition and signature drive was started by a Portland attorney. As of a few weeks ago I haven’t seen any politicians or animal rights group supporting him. On his website for this there is zero endorsements from anyone or any groups listed. Hopefully it stays that way.

I wouldn’t be shocked if he has enuff people helping to gather signatures to get it on the ballot. They could probably hang out in front of all the New Seasons Markets, Zupans, and Trader Joe’s with misleading information that this is just measure to prevent animal abuse and get the signatures.

I would also guess they could get 2 to 5 percent of the state to vote for it even knowing the truth of what it is.

Beyond that I think they would need a VERY well funded misinformation campaign about the ballot measure to even get 30 percent of the state to vote for it, but who knows!

As a state that recently legalized all hard drugs such as heroin and methamphetamines' , I don't think it will be too difficult to get this on the ballot. I would argue the statistics you suggest are on the lite side. It will be marketed as a bill to prevent animal cruelty and many wont bother reading the fine print before casting a vote.

As much of a sh*thole as Portland is there is no way this will ever pass. We can't even get gill nets banned from the Columbia because of the big money behind commercial fishing so I see this as extremely unlikely. There is way too much money the state will lose and we all know how much states like money.

Clickbait. One douchebag from an inner city neighborhood in Mogadishu, sorry meant Portland introduces this. Everyone gets all riled up. This has zero chance of success. But, it makes great clickbait and gets every one outside Oregon wound up like a 12 day clock.

As bad as the voting voices of Oregon are, it has no threat… luckily he’s way too ridiculous. Good reason to support OHA if you live here, and other organizations in general like RMEF who would heavily fight things like this if needed
