Ah, yes. That is correct. Good link.

The recommendation for Oregon will therefore be for the same unit as Wyoming:

@Short Track -
Check out unit: 370HSSV.

What is a good unit to draw for in Oregon? Looking for lots of Elk, not a trophy. Small bulls taste better. Moderate terrain is ok. Something with local hotels available.

What would be the point of providing you any info?

"I drew 1st week of Rifle. Area 16, not sure if it's 16A or 16D. Tag code Elk 242.
Any one familiar with this area?
What airports are closest?
How is the terrain ?
Odds of harvesting anything ?
Not even sure if this tag is either sex, or Bull only.
All I know it's in the Gila area of NM. Other than that, I'm totally clueless.
Oct 16th weather should be decent, will they be bugling still?"

Almost any tag in the John day drainage will have elk. North side, murders creek, desolation, ochocos silvies, etc. none of those are particularly rough..ne keating, pine creek, chesnimus, look out mountain all have good numbers as well.

If you hunt hard you should have a couple opportunities.

You'd probably have a better chance with elk in the Coast range, vs drawing a 'ok' elk tag in a shitty unit. The coast has some nice Rosie's, but it's not for the faint of heart.
