Introductory special below for the most durable Tikka trainer available, the "Forevah Trainah".

This is only for right handed actions. Sorry lefties, but I am working on a way to make left handed .223 bolts along with the ARC bolts. But that will add about $135 to the cost (without an upcharge on the cost for bushing the bolt). I will also have to either use a PBB barrel or swap a factory barrel off a right handed rifle. If you are lefty and are interested, please feel free to PM and I can sharpen the pencil for you.

I have been working on the idea of putting together a nitrided .223 rem for a while. The plan is to always try to keep some on order and in the production loop so that they will be in stock or available in short order. I am putting in the initial order for rifles in two weeks. I will have them back from nitride and expect they will be ready to ship in 6 weeks, but guaranteed in 8 weeks.

If you have a new or clean barreled action you want nitride, I will be formally launching a nitriding service for actions and parts now that I have a good handle on the quality and speed of service. I think a barreled action will be less than $300 shipped. I need to confirm pricing with the nitride service after getting the best price I can by figuring out how many I can fit in a batch at the batch price. You have to pull everything off the barreled action (clean all copper if the barrel is not new). I will be breaking the factory barrel free, so it will be easier to change barrels later.

For the first batch of Forevah Trainer, I will do a pre-order special on a nitrided rifle for $959.00 plus shipping. No tax outside of AZ. Compare this to a Lite stainless model for $1,009 MSRP (all calibers), but the stainless 16" aren't really available. See thread here if that is what you want.

Nitride is better than stainless because it is a harder and slicker for the bolt, making a small improvement of cycling feel over a typical Tikka bolt feel. And, it is a more durable finish with higher corrosion resistance. That's why I am calling it the "Forevah Trainah" but it won't really last forever, but it will be the longest lasting .223 Tikka.

I am only nitriding the action and barrel. We don't nitride or coat anything else. If you want a coating on the bolt, we have been doing a vapor deposit PVD coating akin to DLC which is highly abrasive and corrosion resistant. With the dissimilar nitride and PVD coatings, the bolt is about as slick as a Tikka can be. Of course, a standard Tikka is the gold standard for bolt feel...

We don't nitride the Tikka bolt because it is already a harder more durable stainless, so nitriding doesn't have the same improvement. Moreover, there are also questions about the bolt lug's chipping because the nitride process hardens whatever steel is used.

I will pull each rifle apart, send for nitride and reassemble the same barrel/action. It will come in the factory black plastic stock. If you don't want the stock, I will ship for free. If you want to upgrade to a wood stock or compact stock, I can do that based on what I have available.

PM me your name, address, email, phone, and FFL. I will send an invoice for a "Forevah Trainah" Tikka in .223 rem plus whatever you add.

$959 $1,099.00 for a 16" or 20" nitrided Tikka .223 with the factory threaded 5/8 muzzle threads (No tax outside of AZ.)
$25 shipped to your FFL. (I will ship barreled actions for free if you don't want the plastic stock)

If you want to do some upgrades I will add these at a discount for the pre-order:

$90 PVD bolt coating (only the bolt body)
$70 barrel lapping before nitriding
$85 10 round Mamba mag for factory bottom metal (limited number left)

$65 upgrade to a compact stock
$155 upgrade to a factory wood stock
$100 upgrade to a CTR stock/bottom metal
(no mag with it, the idea is to modify bottom metal to run .223 plastic MDT mags, as others have done on the forum. I haven't done it yet myself.)

I have a 16” test rifle on its way, will update this thread with pics once it is nitrided. I’ll have a batch to send it with.

Would it be possible to get in on the PBB barrels alone? I have an action but need a 16” Tikka 223 barrel.

If you’re ordering PBB, would prefer faster than 1:8 to carry the 88tmk

Alternatively, would you sell the barrels separate from actions?

Can these be had with 22cm or 6cm barrels too?
I can send anything to nitride, I have not nitrided a stainless barrel, I would check with Preferred to figure it out. Pretty sure they can be nitrided no problem.

I have thought about ordering some chromoly barrels from Preferred specifically to nitride. No reason to pay extra for stainless then nitride too.

What 22 creed barrel do you want nitrided? I already have the nitrided action and quite a few stainless barrels. I have some 8 twist on discount.

What’s the price on one of those 8 twist?

I will figure this out too. I wanted to work out the details on the nitriding before I started offering it. I will add it as an option soon. I have to send in batches to get the best pricing, otherwise I’d lose my shirt. The local shop HM West has been fantastic. They do very good work, and turnaround is very quick.

I have some 22 creed 7.5 twist barrels, that is what I usually stock. I got a deal to pass along with some 8 twist 22 creed. I also stock the 7.5 twist 6 creed, but will pick up some 7 twist as well for the negative DA guys and the ones using the new TMK.

I am closer to getting some prefit barrels from other sources. It is still months out, but I should be able to offer the same accuracy guarantee at a different price point. And, I can mix in some chromoly to have nitrided and still come in at a deal.

I am super curious to see what nitride will do for barrel life on the 22 and 6 over bore.

$440 shipped. I will have them up on the site and give a link tomorrow, but shoot me a PM and I can send an invoice.

I have 16 and 18 most are with SAAMI throat to match the lighter varmint bullets with the slower twist.

Not sure the throat specifically, but here is an article on it. I use HM which is in the article. I’ve been reviewing and researching, and seeing benefits without drawbacks to hunters.

Looks like stainless or chromolly works.
