I have a Bergara B14 hunter in 308 I am going to use to hunt whitetail in mostly timber with the occasional shot out to 200 yards. What scope/rail/rings setup with sizes should I get?
I have looked at numerous rings and it appears most of the recommended rings only come In 30mm. Should I go with 30mm over 1 inch?
Also, is bedding the rail necessary for a short range deer rifle?

Yes I would bed the rail. Every rail I have removed show signs of movement and lack of full contact with the receiver. At a minimum epoxy bed it.

For that set-up a Trijicon Huron or Credo 3-9x40 would be perfect.

Those are both 1" tubes but there are several options for durable high quality 1" rings. I'd look at Warne Mountain Tech, Unknown Munitions, MDT Premier or Vortex Precision Matched Rings (made by Seekins). Low rings would probably be your best bet with a standard stock.

I have looked at the credo but have read the magnification knob interferes with the bolt at higher magnification. Has this been fixed?
