Just bought a SG Talus 6900.................I hunt Alaska, it can be wet, Pack cover or no? I know the SG's seem to be pretty water "resistant" so I wasnt sure if a cover was really needed. I wont be purposely hunting in a down pour, but crap happens and sometimes you get caught in a good one.

Buy one and keep it in your pack. They are nice to have when stuck in rain of all types. It does offer an extra layer of protection above and beyond the DWR and also your dry bags. In case of emergency it can be used to keep the rain off of you whether as a tarp or just cover yourself while in the fetal position. Use it to channel water into your water bottle. Lots of options and uses..

I just bought the one SG sells. It’s smaller than a baseball and damn light. I just tossed it in the lid to my pack and I’ll leave it there till it’s needed.

For a day trip, not a big deal, wet gear is only going to be an inconvenience... unless your day trip turns into an overnight trip.

I never care if I get wet and know it's a 30min walk back to the truck. But when I could be out in the field for a few days I'm just not willing to risk getting my gear wet. I'll have a rain cover handy, and all my critical gear is always in a dry bag ontop of that.
