Check ammoseek if you're having issues find ammo

I’ve been checking on there, can’t see myself paying $100+ for a box of shells..
I’m on a “notify” list at several places when they get a shipment, quite a few are saying “coming soon”, we will see.

I live about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh. A local store has them occasionally for 52 a box. they are hornady precision hunters in 143 grain eldx. I have a box and dont have a 6,5 prc. a friend of mine was there today and said they had some in stock. I have plenty of 6.5 creedmoor ammo but at least i have a couple of rifles that shoot them.

I really like my .257wby

Like others have said, it’s a bit heavy but it has a great trigger and smooth action.

I love my .30-06 Vanguard after a few mods. The first upgrade was replacing the stock with a Bell & Carlson. The plastic stock flexed more than I’d like and the recoil was a lot harsher. The second upgrade was a Timney Trigger. The factory trigger was okay but glad I upgraded. Rifle is way more accurate than I am and seems to like any ammo I put through it. I might chop the barrel to 22” and thread it 1/28 so I can use my suppressor. Thinking of Cerakoting the barreled action and bolt as well.
That stock is money and my 3006 has less felt recoil than kids 7-08 so we upgraded their stock as well. Own 4 vanguards and they shoot lights out w stock trigger. My org vanguard w old trigger sucked compared to new vanguard trigger so traded that 3006 for a new one

Im thinking about getting a Vanguard in 6.5 Creedmoor. I currently have a Mossberg patriot and I really like that gun. I took a caribou in Alaska with it this year. My only complaint is the safety. I want a 3 position safety. I have lost a round while walking through the woods while whitetail hunting. I have thought about stepping up to the PRC, but I am on the fence.

Consider me in the camp of great rifle, just a little on heavy side.

I had one in 257roy. Was a great shooter, nothing mechanically wrong with it, just a tad on the heavy side

Make a great setup in 6.5prc.

I have a Weatherby Vanguard Back Country in the original iteration, stainless, in .30-06. 24” and surprisingly light. Weatherby data claimed 6.75 lbs bare. Not bad for a full sized rifle with a 24” barrel. Very accurate, easy to shoot. Weatherby doesn’t make them like this anymore. If you can find one, buy it.

Edit to add, that’s not me in the picture.

Thanks. Buds has a special with a pepper laminate stock for $700 in 6.5 CM. I wonder do I need another 6.5 CM or go up to PRC. If both were an option I would do that. The availability of CM ammo is a plus for me. I have always wanted a Vanguard and this price is hard to say no to with the Boyds Stock

I was fortunate enough to win a Weatherby Vanguard 6.5 PRC with a Leupold Freedom 3-9x40 scope at my local RMEF banquet. Just wondering about others experience with this gun? I’m a lefty, but could keep it for my son or sell it. Ammo is impossible to find right now so not sure whether to keep it in the safe or sell it. Give me your input on the accuracy that you’ve found with it. I have a couple of Tikka's that I really like and don’t necessarily need another rifle.
I snagged one in 6.5 PRC for pretty cheap as well. How did your shoot?
