This seems like an "easy button" set up. Thoughts?

Tikka T3x in 270 with a Meopta 6x42

MPBR 300 yds (+/- 3")

Small hold over at 350 yds. Dial past that but realistically not shooting past 400 yds.

Which bullet at what speed in the 270?

Which bullet and how slow in the 6.5?

not looking to replace the 6.5, but for reference around 2500fps.

Plenty of 270 options around 3000 fps

Sounds like easy button to me. I loved a good fixed 6x for western hunts. All a person really needs. Killed my muley buck with a Tikka T3x in 7mm-08 (139 SST at 2850) and a Weaver Classic K6 last fall. My good friend now owns that rifle and it's all he needs.

You're on the right track.
Shooting to 400 without dialing is no big trick with that setup.
With 140 accubonds @ 3000 with a 200 yd zero I'm about 1.5" high at 100, 6.5" low at 300, 18" low at 400, 40" low at 500 and about 6' low at 600.
I've shot paper and steel at 500 and 600 with my .270 but doubt I'd ever take a shot that far at game.

I think that’s an awesome hunting setup. People have lost their minds with the LR craze. The instabros have got everyone convinced you have to have a custom rifle with carbon wrapped barrel, first focal tacticool scope, shooting sub MOA hand loads to kill a deer, elk, or whatever. Reality is that rifle with Walmart ammo will kill 99% of everything that dies in NA this season.
FWIW, I have a few custom rifles, carbon fiber tripod, tacticool scopes, all the shooting goodies, and gadgets, I love banging steel and shooting matches, but when I go hunting I prefer to keep it simple.

That combo will do just fine!

I use the same in different brands but results will be the same. Keep it simple and go hunting!

I've had a trying week with helping three friends with scope and mount issues that came about because of Hubble Scopes and complex mounts. All are now hunting with scopes borrowed from me.

That sort of combo has been knocking critters in the dirt for a long time.

I've used a fixed 6x quite a lot on my 300 and even after I put a 3x9 on it, most of my hunting shots have been taken with it sitting at 6x. Simple is good.

A .270WIN sporting a 6x will do just fine despite what the instabros tell you.

I put the 6X Meopta Artemis with 4B reticle on my Savage 99 .284 Winchester. Sweet setup for 500 yards an in.

I think you're good with that plan.
