I think the 280 AI and 6.5 PRC hit that same sweet spot don’t they? I kill a lot of stuff with my 6mm and 108 eldms. The 280 and PRC both have mild recoil and kill way above their pay grade.

No. Both the 280 and the PRC recoil above what most can handle when tested on targets from field positions.

And while I understand what you are saying…. Everything kills above its pay grade when the best bullets are used.

Tikka t3x in 6.5 creedmoor would be a lot of value for the money and should work fine on elk. 6.5 creedmoor is typically cheaper and easier to find on The shelves too. I shot an elk last year with a 284 winchester and it only made 5 steps before falling over. You don’t need a magnum for elk in my opinion.

I have been using the Sightron S-Tac 3-16x44 on both my 6.5 Creedmoor and 280 AI. Not the lightest scope but very rugged and track 100% accurate. Have around 300-400 rounds thru each rifle shooting 100-800 yards and many miles in the backcountry. Crazy good value as they are on clearance at Midway for $250! right now. Pair it with a custom turret from Kenton industries and you have a fantastic rig.

I would recommend the Duplex reticle for hunting as the MOA reticle they offer is pretty fine and not very visible at dusk or in heavy cover.
