OPINIONS: Lowa Tibet GTX vs Tibet GTX Hi

however I think it is also worth noting the standard Tibets have the pivoting lace stud near the ankle while the Hi’s do not (photo attached); perhaps that allows your foot and leg to move more naturally.
Interesting. I think that lace hook on the standard Tibet's is one of the best parts about the lacing system. It allows you to really lock your heel down and prevent blisters. Thanks for the comparison.

For those that have the Hi's were there ever instances you wished you had went with the standard height? Perhaps during early season when it's warm and your feet/legs were starting to sweat?

I wear mine year round. The height isn't the issue- it's the GTX liner that limits breathability. Just pay attention to the socks you wear in different weather and you'll be fine.

Well I'm 95% certain I am going with the standard height Tibet GTX's over the Hi's. I've returned the Hi's but haven't pulled the tags off the standard height boots just in case I change my mind for some reason.

I'm planning to go with the standard height for the following reasons:

1. I feel they provide plenty of ankle support.
2. I think the pivoting lace stud is a great feature.
3. While walking up stairs to simulate walking up elevation, the Hi's hit the top of my foot slightly different which may have become uncomfortable over a period of time.
4. For walking through water and/or to keep debris from getting into the boots I'll throw a pair of gaiters on.
5. Although only 4 ounces lighter, the standard height is slightly lighter.
6. As of now I only hunt western style hunting 1 week out of the year, the rest of the time I'm hunting in Wisconsin where I don't think the height of the Hi's is necessary.

If anyone thinks I'm missing a critical reason to go with the Hi's, speak now or forever hold your peace :)

Don't mean to bump this thread but I have been searching for my first pair of boots and I've been leaning towards the Lowa Tibets. My question is, these boots are $380 on Lowa.com, and then Shoebuy they are like $360, Zappos $380, but on Amazon they are $260. What is going on there? Are those amazon shoes potentially older models of the Tibet gtx? Are they compensating for something by having them reduced so low?

Keep an eye on shoebuy.com. They are constantly running 25% off and occasionally run 30% off sales. Shoebuy sells the current model boots. Not sure about the others you mentioned.

Good luck

Ya, that is what I am wondering about. Those shoes selling normally (without any discount or sale) on Amazon for $120 off of what Lowa and Shoebuy carry them at has me worried. They must be compensating for something, like old edition/version, by having it marked down so low, right? Also, how do you know shoebuy only sells the most current model of those shoes?

The only ones that are $265 on Amazon are size 10 and are through a 3rd party seller not direct through Amazon. They should be current model though, so if that's your size then go for it. As stated, Shoebuy.com is a good option too. Make sure to use a coupon.

is this what your talking about?
eatures, such as the handy I-Lock lacing cam which allows you to separate the lace tension between the ankle and the top of the foot, will keep your feet comfortable over many miles of tough terrain.
