Open sights?

I ended up piecing together one of these but have yet to get my rear height situated. I’m pretty close but they were designed for a bolt action so their pic rail sits higher over bore than mine….short version I would not recommend.

But I am hard headed and going to make it work

Tracking this thread closely as I'm in a similar situation. @ElDiablito are you planning on mounting your rear peep to the WA rail? I plan to do my load development with my scope then remove it and mount a rear peep to the rail. I'm waiting for my rail to come in so I can quantify rear peep height and what I'll need for the front. I'm hoping I can use a Western Precision globe but not sure if my rear sight configuration will be too tall. Also, the front sight threads on the G3 are 4-40 and the Western Precision globe calls out 6-48/8-40 screw. Might need to drill out/re-tap for the larger screw or use some epoxy if keeping the 4-40 to keep from slipping.

I did look at the arrowhead configuration above as a backup plan. I'd need to have a spacer turned since the front sight is designed for a .875" barrel diameter and it looks like I'd lose the ability to mount the ramrod to gun which is an inconvenience/not ideal when backpack hunting.

I'm new to MZ this season and picked up a blem G3 based off of your feedback and received it a few weeks ago. It is a VERY nice/well constructed firearm (probably the nicest one I own now from a craftsmanship perspective). Thanks for the recommendation!

Yes, the G3 is (currently) tapped for two 4-40 for the front sight. I bought 4-40 screws to mount my WWP globe. Fits perfectly. I’m going to bed it when I get the height right. It’s too low for my XS clamp-on rear with the WA pic rail. So working on spacer ideas now and then I’ll need to use longer 4-40 screws….

Congrats on the G3! Very nice rifles (another universe from some of the more popular/cheaper choices).

P.S. I’ve got 99 more of the 4-40 alloy socket head 3/16” screws if someone needs one. lol
