Oops!

Makes you really think about their "quality control". So does that mean that when you purchase from companies like federal and buy match primers, they actually just look at them?

I would spray wd-40 in the primer to kill it. Pull the bullet and dump the powder. Run through a decapper. Alternately, I feel sure Hornady will replace it.
Haha scare-dy cat. Pull that bullet and powder, SLOWLY de-cap, flip it over and reseat it. Powder back in, reseat the bullet. Good as new.
Kids these days just toss good material and buy new stuff.

OP- in all honesty, I’ve never seen a factory ammo box look like that…and I have cases of Hornady ammo. šŸ§šŸ¤”

Embarrassingly, I loaded a 7mm Rem Mag round with the primer installed backwards about 2 months ago. I didn't even notice it when loading it into the chamber (single loading without magazine). It simply ended up as a failure to fire, thankfully.

I'd pull that bullet, empty the powder, gently extract the primer, and then start over.

I did one this past week. It turned over on the priming tool some way and I seated it backwards. Caught it before I charged the case. Had seen a suggestion in this thread to douse it in oil to kill it. Did that and very nervously deprimed it with the press. Luckily it wasn't as exciting as I thought it may be.
Moving some hornady 223s this evening and found this guy. This is factory stuff so it's on somebody in Nebraska. Not me.

Likely. The ā€œmatchā€ or ā€œprecisionā€ components or arrows or what have you are typically the same production runs, just they have been sorted/measured/weighed to tighter tolerances. Not premium components compared to a standard version, just an extra level of qc.
