OnX road question

If you turn in the roads/trails layer it will show roads that are open with a white line with purple dashes. If you click on that road it will also show dates it’s open.

My question is does that mean it’s open to public travel even if it’s on private? The road is accessed off a public road but it’s immediately on private for about a mile before entering blm.

I would assume it’s up to the private landowner but why would it be marked as such on OnX. A road not a 1/2 mile away, that is accessed off the same road, goes through the same private, and ends on the same blm is not marked.

I’ve left a message with blm and the landowner but haven’t heard back yet.

I guarantee that Onyx doesn't have that level of information. Heck in order to really know you often need to spend time at the local courthouse going through old paper files. And even then there is a lot of unknowns.

Mvum and/or blm maps and even then, for a WY hunt I sent a blm road overlay to the BLM and had them tell me where public easements started and ended for each of the roads.

Many roads open to public travel go through private property and are marked with the OnX purple. Often times there is a sign there saying you can drive through but can’t stop. In my experience, OnX has been very accurate, but I also back it up with a MVUM
