Onewind hooded rain poncho $30-35

I just got in a Onewind hooded rain poncho. I have not got to use it in the field yet, but it seems to be a pretty handy piece of gear for a good price. I've had an old MyTrailCo poncho for years that has served me pretty well. This one is a lot cheaper and feels to be of similar quality. For times when I don't expect to need rain gear or a tarp this seems just right to have along in case I'm wrong. It's pretty thin but at this price if I do tear it using it as a ground cloth or it gets ember holes next to a fire I'm ok with it. Amazon has them for $30-$35 depending on color. They even have camo but it's the highest priced version.

It has two adjustments on the hood so it can be made to fit how you want, not just be a bit floppy mess.

It's not nearly as stout looking as the military ones, but it's about half the weight. It looks like military ones are 1.09lbs and 83"x57" from what I could find. I looked up a Helikon Tex US Model Poncho for the weight and dimensions.

The Onewind weighs 8.1oz in the sack on my postage scale and is smaller than a can of Coke in it's sack. It shows it's 98"x56" on Amazon, big enough to fit over a pack if needed. The old MyTrailCo poncho is 102"x55". I also like that it has a sewn in tie loop between each corner instead of just on each corner. It should set up easy in the shelter configuration I used with my MyTrailCo version with that extra loop.

Just wanted to share it in case anyone else felt it fit a niche in their pack. I find having something pretty lightweight, waterproof, and that I don't mind ruining can be handy for a lot of things. This isn't much heavier than a stout 55 gallon drum liner and seems more versatile to me.

Made a wind break on a caribou hunt. I used breathable rain gear so I had a poncho also just in case.

Got any pics of yourself or someone wearing it as a poncho? Think it would provide adequate coverage to the lower body if used in conjunction with some gaiters that sit just below the knee? And does it make much noise?

Awesome, thanks! Been considering switching to a poncho + gaiter setup instead of a rain jacket and rain pants (or soggy legs), especially if I can find one that will give adequate coverage to keep me dry when squatting or sitting. Will give one of these a shot, though it says ship time is 1-2 months so I doubt I'll get to use it for spring bear season
