Older pocket knives.

My stepdad passed. He had knives everywhere. Most were junkie. Every time I go home I take a truckload to donation. I've learn to check the pockets. I found a 1980's Schrade old timer. 50T. Carbon steel and super tight and sturdy at the hinge. I got it so sharp! I'm liking the older blades over my more modern ( don't make me say. "Tactical" ) blades.

I also found a browning citori w screw in chokes. Mom told me to keep it. I put it in the gun safe. I'll get it later when I drive back

Nice, and that Citori will be a nice shooter. I had one with fixed chokes and it was awesome on the trap range. Sucked carrying it all day for pheasant though.

My dads got one that has gutted & skinned hundreds of trout, a few mule deer, cut bait for lingcod & marlin as well as skin wires on the job. Its a lot older than me & Im 49 years old. Some day when the time comes, Ill ask my mom for it, but I don't have the heart to ask him for his Case or any of the other great old tools & guns he can no longer use.

Both my brother and I had the exact model Old Timer as the one pictured. I know I lost mine at a college party, not sure what happened to my brother's. They sure were a good blade and easy to put on a razor sharp edge.

Wish I had all the knives I lost.

Those were all good blades and worked for so many to date I would never call them bird shit! There is a lot of history with each and every knife one owns. I still have the "Old Timer" pocket knife my grand father gave me 42 years ago. I don't carry it just because it means something to me. Bob.

My older pocket knives are just soso- seems they were not expensive knives back then............ so they can't hold a candle to the good steel knives I have now.

Get a good D2, S30v, or any of the other incredible steels out there now...these are the good old days!

Can't tell ya how many elk my old man has worked up w/ a Case just like.
In fact, I'm on the hunt for one w/ that blade you have shown and the round blade.
IMO, it was the Havalon of it's day.

I hate D2. (Love s30v)IMO. The old steel fell out of favor solely on corrosion issues. Everyone wants stainless. I think new companies are revisiting high carbon steel again. For example ESEE with the 1095 steel.

I like high carbon. I think it gets sharper and stays sharper. But you do have oil it and give it more love.

Some old Queen knives. One from the 1940's and the others from the 1980's. All well used by me and the 40's one by who knows. I have two from the 40's and they both get truly razor sharp. I have a scar on my thigh to prove it. I went to fold it against my leg because I was holding whatever I was cutting and it sunk about an inch and a half into my leg. They hold the edge all the way out to a needle sharp point.
