I’ve recently acquired this old Mark V from my dad. It’s chambered in 300wby with the 9 lug action. It’s a lilja barrel, about 24” with a brake. The rifle isn’t pristine but is in pretty good shape for its age with what appears to be an old Bell & Carlson stock that’s been bedded. I’m hoping some hardcore Weatherby guys may jump in and recommend a good place to post this rifle for sale, and maybe even some recommended prices. Thanks for any advice offered!

I would first suggest trying to find out the exact model of the rifle. By looking at it, it might be an Alaskan. If I am correct, the rifle might Japanese made.
Based on some quick searching,, an Alaskan model sold with a scope for 1k.
Truthfully, I would keep the rifle. 300wby is an awesome caliber and the fact that it was your fathers, I would also keep for that very reason.

Based on the serial number I believe it’s German made. I did some looking today, I could be wrong though. I’m not sure on the round count, probably a few hundred or so.

I have as well, and can only wish he gave me this one. It cost a pretty penny and I feel the funds would be better used elsewhere.

Nice rifle, I would be hard pressed to sell it. I recently picked up a Weatherby MkV in 338-378 for $950, it was used and showed a few signs of that use, though not abused. I would think that 300 Weatherby would be a more desirable caliber.

I bought a Weatherby accumark a few years back in 30-378 for 1500.00 in almost pristine condition. It's a similar rifle and it's a tack driving southern bean field whitetail rifle if ever there was one but ammo when I can find it at gun shows is 100.00 and up.

Serial No indicates action built in 1961. Safety is on the receiver. Triggers were made of an zinc alloy and had a tendency to fracture. Gunsmiths replaced them with Timneys. That is an original FOAM FILLED Bell and Carlson stock.

They installed a proper weight barrel for the 300 Weatherby cartridge. Make sure the original German trigger is not fractured. A Weatherby collector for forty years i've seen four fractured triggers. Replace with timney.

Should be a fantastic shooter. My dad has 2 weatherby rifles my grandfather bought back in the 80s. They are both absolute tac drivers. Most accurate factory rifles I’ve ever shot. Like pick it up after a year and first three shots are one ragged hole accurate.
