I have a cabelas Alaskan guide -20 bag that was given to me and it’s probably 10-20 years old? Is it still good for -20 or is it now a 0? Any way to tell? The down in it still seems fluffy. Thanks.

Couple follow-up questions;
- is this down?
- how was it stored? (Compressed in a stuff sack or in a larger bag kinda like a pillow case but bigger)
- any clue when the last time it was used?
- any clue if it has been cleaned?

Basically it probably is fine - I inherited 70's Gerry brand bags that were stored stuffed and left unused for about that time probably 15 years. And although I'm not using it for its intended purposes it still functions exactly like it did back in the '70s.

Allow the bag to layout and puff up as much as possible. Measure it's total thickness and then divide by 2. This will give you an idea of it's loft. Compare that to the loft specs of current offerings and it should give you a rough idea.

Not sure how it’s was stored before . I have had it loosely put into a contractor garage bag for 2 years. It needs to be washed. Have a hunt coming up and it’s gonna be 15 degrees at night, I have a 22degree bag that is new but just thinking about brining this beast to make sure I’m warm. We are using a Kifaru tut with a stove so I’m sure the 22 would be fine. Thanks for the insight.

I see this is a bit dated but... are you interested in selling the sleeping bag mentioned above?
