Old Quail Call

Today I finally started going through some of my dad’s old stuff that I’ve been putting off since he passed and came across a bunch of old calls of various types. Several old OLT duck and goose calls, some old elk bugle tubes and a flute (complete with a Larry D. Jones elk hunting cassette) and this Darrel B. Foss quail call. I couldn’t find a whole lot of detail about it online but it looks to likely be from the 1950’s. I’ve never tried calling quail but thought it was kind of cool.

can be a good tool for locating quail, especially for desert quail like gambels.

Gambel's and California quail will both call back to help give you a direction towards them. I always have one around my neck.

I haven’t tried this one out yet. The reed material looks a little worse for the wear. I assume it can be replaced but haven’t messed with it at all.

WOW, I found the same call in my Fathers safe after the same situation.
The one I have runs fine.

So far I have only ever seen your Dads and my Dads. My hunting buddies have only ever seen the one I have.
Really cool keep sake to break out while hunting with the guys.
