Old guys go sheep hunting too!

Good deal and best of luck on his hunt!

I too have been putting in for a ram tag (in Montana) well before the state started issuing preference points and still haven't drawn—the biggest reason I splurged on a Dall hunt two years ago. I still hold out hope I draw one here :)

I am leaning on Geezer status myself and still hunting sheep.
Luckily, I can watch them from my place on ocassion but making the climb is harder and harder and have spent my life staying in shape for this.
I try to take a saddlehorse as far as I can go and then travel afoot.
Hunter's are taking bigger Rams these days than ever skirting the Parks and Coal mines. The quality of the hunt has diminished though

Just to wrap this up- got his ram on day 4. 200 yards. Weatherby 6.5 RPM with 140 Nosler Partition handholds. Completes his slam, but that was never a big driver in the hunt. 86.5 years old and now trying to decide what to chase next year!! 870481925421826322.jpeg

I'm a Desert sheep away from a Grand Slam. I have 20+ points in AZ, NV and UT and will put in for NM and CO for a Desert. I don't want to think about waiting another 20 years to draw a tag for one. I love to hunt and really like to sheep hunt but my hunting career isn't going to be defined on whether I get to hunt a Desert sheep.

Congratulations to the 86 year old on an excellent sheep.
