OG65 Evaluation Q&A

Just ordered an OG65. I figured if it sounds as/or better than the Scythe I’m currently waiting to blow up or my old heavy Omega…plus it reduces overall length, moves weight back, and eliminates hubs & front caps that tend to wiggle loose…it’ll be a huge upgrade for me.
If I love it on both my 6cm and .223 I’ll likely end up with a second one so they both have their own dedicated cans.
Now the wait…

For what it’s worth, the old guys at the range said they couldn’t tell any difference between my Scythe on the 18” 6.5 Grendel and the OG 6.5 on my 24” .25-06. They were impressed with both cans from a sound suppression perspective.

How is this at recoil mitigation vs regular say 7” can? if recoil reduction is important to you, is the trade off worth the shorter rifle 🤔

Good question. To me it's still a low volume can that I wouldn't use on anything burning much powder but Id still like all the recoil reduction i could get on 6.5 CM type cartridge in a hunting weight rifle.

I don’t have a way to scientifically measure that, but I can try to give you some subjective impressions as I try it out on more rifles.

Pretty happy to start with my og 6.5 on a 24" 6.5-284. Much quieter than my JK armament form 1 can, but that's not a high bar.

To add some context, I was shooting at the end of a hiking trip with my wife's uncle. He'd never shot suppressed guns or an AR-15 being a NY resident. I was wearing surefire ep4 in ear plugs and off to the left when he was shooting the 18" AR with the JK can. My ears weren't ringing, but I felt uncomfortable after 10 shots from the AR.

We both remarked how much quieter the hunting rifle was with the OG 6.5. The barrel will eventually get swapped to an 18" 6 gt or creed, but for now it's easy to spot shots from prone off a pack. Dropping a quarter pound and 2" of length compared to the JK certainly doesn't hurt either.

That's cool to hear. I don't have anything bad to say about how the scythe suppresses sound. The length weight and reported performance of the 6.5 sounds great to me.
