Offseason activities

I have multiple spots. Having only 1 spot for a species can suck. Animal use on public land is not always consistent, not to mention what use by people can do to animal patterns and use. I have a deer spot, occasionally it has pigs, such a dilemma at times. But every pig spot I have has deer. Unfortunately, that does not always work the other way around.

But hey, within the next few days, I'll likely be pig hunting again.

How do you guys like to spend the offseason?

Spend it shooting? Scouting new spots? Reading about the species? Setting up cameras? All of the above?

I always kick myself for not getting out and scouting more during the offseason, want to take advantage of this year. Never have I found a target buck and went after him, maybe I will this year.
Hunt cats, steelhead fish, and spend time at the barn

For blacktails specifically, I try and kill some predators even just a coyote or 2 in winter and begin scouting and shed hunting as soon as the holidays are over. Archery is a year round game. Just put new strings on the 2026 bow and will be setting it up this week and looking forward to the shooting season.

A prospect for next season and a bonus clue in a new area.
