Well , I missed out on thre old style slik pro 624 cf at s&s and b&h so I went looking for an alternative. I found the Oben CT 2331 tripod at b&h. 1.65 lbs and a 54.8" max height. Does anybody have any experience with one ? I ordered one and a manfrotto 700rc2 head to go with it so I'll have some experience soon but wanted some feedback for other users.

I just received the Oben ct 2331 tripod and Manfrotto 700rc2. Very happy so far. Weight was as advertised and it feels high quality. It's a little long is the only knock so far but it fits ok in my DT1 with the head attached. The head is above the pocket but it cinched down fine and I'm not concerned with it falling out. At 2lbs 10.8 oz for the tripod and head with the handle I'm happy. With a 54.8" height most people would be able to stand and glass if they wanted and the three position adjustable leg angle will get you reasonably low. If you missed the ols style slik pro 624 cf this may be the next best choice.

I'm very happy with the Oben CT 2331. It is long collapsed but I have put a Kifaru bottle holder on the side of my bag at the bottom and slip it under the side pocket strap so it rides along the frame. It's light and reasonablly stabile fully extended with my ATS 80. It is wearing the slick finish on the legs off but I've used it plenty. I don't horse my equipment so only tighten the leg locks enough to lock but not wrenched down tight. I don't think the locks are really robust so don't try to find their limits.
