I'll be in O‘ahu (Waikiki) 03/10 - 03/17 and would love to bow hunt for a day (probably all i can do away from the family). Anyone there around that time down to sync up for a day hunt? I don't have a particular species in mind, whatever we can hunt with low friction is good for me.

Oahu is pretty limited on hunting opportunities compared to all the other islands. Pretty much some archery pigs and even that takes having some connections…..

That’s why I have been going to other islands, more hunting opportunities to sneak away for a day.

There is no way I’d go through the hassle of packing a bow/hunting clothes/gear etc. to try and fit one day of hunting in during a 1 week family trip to Oahu. There’s a ton of awesome hiking if you want to explore the jungle and mountains but it’s not worth bringing all that extra gear just so you can hike with a bow and call it hunting. The one exception is if you have access to good private land, but I still wouldn’t mess with it.

I went to Oahu in Dec. 2024 for a family vacation. (Wife, Kids, Mom, Sister, BIL, Nieces)

I wanted to hunt axis while there, so my wife, son & I hopped on a charter flight to Molokai for 2 days. Stayed in a hotel on Molokai and met with the guide, used his rifle and had a good time. My son shot an axis, so we bought a cooler in town and the guide shipped it to our house in Texas a few weeks later. Very simple, and really cheap comparatively.

X2 the hunting sucks in all of the islands especially oahu. The public is pounded year-round there's no secrets. Unless you know someone that owns a ranch just enjoy your vacation

This would be awesome, but quite a departure from fitting a day of hunting into a family trip to Oahu. BTW, AllTrails is the place to go for Oahu hiking beta, and there is an active Facebook group a well.

We only hunted Axis Doe... but I think the Axis bucks were $6K each. They are also loaded with blackbuck there as well.

Here is about what we spent.

Flight (roundtrip) Oahu - Molokai - $170 each
Guide fee - $400 for the whole group/ day
Gun Rental - $75 for the whole group/ day
Hunting License - $105 each
Hotel - $250 / Night
Truck rental on Turo- Don't remember exactly but around $200
Axis Doe - $250 each
Shipping meat/ cape - $200

Although there is not much else on Molokai, we did find a really nice beach we pretty much had to ourselves. we saw maybe 5 people all day.

We spent less than $3K for 3 people.
