I am headed to NZ in May for tahr and chamois. I am wanting a boot that will be good for that trip as well as Sheep or goat in the next few years.. Wanting something light and stiff that will take a pair of crampons..

I have been running lowa renegades.. I also have a pair of tibets but they are in pretty rough shape so looking to get something new..

My go to boots are:

Asolo Granite/Aconcagua- work horse boot, tough as, pretty heavy. not narrow, but not wide. Good toe for climbing

Scarpa Gran Dru- wider fit than the Asolo, good solid boot, rubber sole very 'sticky' but soft compared to the Asolo.

Both these boots are rather 'heavy' but will last you.

I have just got some Asolo Ascenders, Seirra trading has a good deal on them right now, they are end of run model.(https://www.sierratradingpost.com/a.../?filterString=mens-boots~d~137/asolo~b~1120/)
Only worn them around the house/town, but a lighter stiff boot, synthetic/leather, doubt they will be as durable as full leather boots, but they seem very nice. very good price on them I think.

If your only going on the odd 'goat' hunt you could probably get away with a 'softer' boot, that will be more versatile. The Lowa Tibets are a good all rounder, as are the Asolo Hunter(previously ssasslong).

Lowa Cevedale are a nice lighter boot, similar to the Asolo Ascender. I was going to get a pair but I got the Asolos for well under half the price of the Lowas here.
