So I'm prepping for a cali bear hunt where it seems I may be in some thick stuff. I also hunt thick pine forest/swamp here in texas, and while I love my merino clothes, they are not meant for brush busting.
What nylon options are out there that are breathable and could potentially work for struggle stick use as well? The corrugate from FL looks good, as does kuius kutana 3defx but the latter seems heavier and pricier than I need. I figure i can layer underneath if i need.

I have both, the Kuiu Kutana pants areare tough as nails. Hip vents. Streachy. Not as noisey as the Corrugate. The Corugates are also tough.

Good point about the hip vents for the pants. That actually makes it more versatile to me probably.

What about the jacket? Is the kutana pretty breathable? I see people saying they use the corrugate jacket in warm weather

Here's a great combo deal from SKRE gear. I really like the hip zips on thier pants. They also have a early season pant depending on what the temperature during the season your planning to hunt.

I think I'm between the skre hardscrabble jacket and the FL corrugate jacket. Are the pit zips on the hardscrabble enough to make it wearable in say 80 deg weather? Is the fabric tough enough for thorns and thick brush?

Yes the Hardscrabble fabric will easily holdup to brush and is robust enough for thorns. Comfort level is subjective but your going to be pretty hot in the Hardscrabble even with the pitzips open. I'd venture a guess that no jacket will offer you that wide of temperature range. I have worn it in the 70's but usually opt for a lighter layer myself.
