Mtnguide is spot on! If deer only, make every effort to go late and hope there's snow.

Not sure what you mean by early season. But if you could get into region F with Martoglio the last 2 weeks of the season, last week of October - first week of November, I wouldn't hesitate. Josh doesnt have the reputation he has for no reason. All his guides are top notch.

Opportunities would obviously be better in G or H but you will wait another 5 years or so.

Do not waste your time in the teton wilderness for bucks. Hes only had that camp for 1 year, and that country NEVER has been known for deer. The only big deer they kill come from g/h, and he sold multiple of those camps this year, which is why he is pumping that wilderness camp. If you can get an elk tag, then sure, but if you are just going for deer, you will be wasting money

I was looking into this hunt as well.

What other info can you share that would pursue me one way or another? I haven’t put in yet. But I am highly considering it.

So an archery hunt? I WOULD NOT pay for an archery mule deer hunt in Region F around Cody. I repeat DO NOT do that. Late October early November rifle hunt, no hesitation.

I am unaware of anywhere Martoglio guides that has rifle mule deer season in September. Unless he has a new camp I am unaware of.

I deleted this post because I'm full, but it has come to my attention that someone contacted the Wy board of outfitters and they were investigating. So, in order to not look suspicious, I'm adding the outfitters license and name: Meade Dominic, 7d Ranch Outfitters, BG 122. Great outfit in NW Wyoming for Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat, Elk and Mule deer. The humblest outfitter you'll ever talk to.

Yeah, he does a lot more deer in the northern unit, you're thinking of.

Why go guided in G or H? Serious question. Plenty of that country is easily accessible and the deer are in predictable locations. Especially G. Lots of road access... stock could help, but would not make or break your success. Pick a basin and go, if no deer you like go hit another. Rinse and repeat. You are more restricted in many ways using an outfitter.
If you are not well versed in western hunting or have extreme physical limitations then I would recommend trophy mountain and go the H route.

I have spoken to a couple of outfitters today, and am struggling to select an outfit. I will have 4 points going into application for 2027. All three hunts/outfits I am mentioning are horseback wall tent which I want

Jackson hole outfitters - they seem to have a strong reputation. This would be in their Teton wilderness camp. Targeting 160-180 bucks

Trails west Josh Martoglio - everything I’ve read seems they are absolute killers and they seem to have proof. He told me they target 175ish bucks

Best of the west - I will have to point pool to hunt their G/H camp. Targeting bigger bucks but obviously the winter kill happened a few years back. Bruce was very open and honest with the situation.

I can’t really decide where and what. The cost of all 5 fluctuates a few thousand which I don’t care. Trails west hunt is sold as 1:1 which I want and will upgrade the others to if I choose them. The others 2:1

All will be early season rifle hunts

I don't know anything about Best of the west outfitters, but I do know that the biggest mule deer on their website is one I guided and did not come from their area. So, take that for what it's worth.
